FROM THE PRINCIPAL

School Disco

Thank you so much to the P&C, volunteering parents, volunteering staff and volunteering students who made the Term 1 Disco an amazing event! These events cannot go ahead without volunteers and the students very much enjoyed their time.

A special thank you to the member of the P&C who worked tirelessly in the background to prepare for this event. Thank you!

Continued focus on Writing

This term, we are continuing to focus on improving student outcomes in the area of writing. Teachers are working closely in their Year Level Professional Learning Teams to support student growth, monitor student work and share best teaching practices with each other. All members of the leadership team are also visiting classrooms through Learning Walks and Talks with students. Personally, I am enjoying the conversations with students, learning about their lessons and hearing their success from week to week. It is a testament to our quality teachers within the school and hearing the students discussions around their writing goals and weekly successes.

Senior Strings Shine

Thank you to our amazing Senior Strings students who performed at the recent Junior School Assembly. The junior students were given an insight on what is to come if they choose to participate in the strings program offered by Ms Jones. What a performance for only being together for 5 weeks!

Regards,
Adam

Mid-term wellbeing

It may be a surprise for some of us to notice we are now in Week 6 of term. By the middle of term one, children may be feeling more settled and familiar with their new classmates and teachers, and parents may also begin to feel comfortable about children's transitions to the new year and class. Here are some ideas to help your child and yourself at this term mid-point.

  • Encourage your child to talk about their day. Ask open-ended questions to show your interest in their school life.
  • Help your child establish a routine at home, including a consistent bedtime and morning routine to help them feel more organized and prepared for the school day.
  • Practice positive reinforcement by praising your child for their efforts.
  • Stay positive and patient. It may take some time for your child to adjust to the new school / class environment. Reflect on what settling to a new year at school usually looks like for your child, consider what is normal and what helped in other years.
  • Read newsletters, dojo posts and where possible attend school events, to build good communication with your child's teacher and stay informed about school life and progress.
  • Now that school is a bit more familiar, consider supporting your child to join an extracurricular activity, sport, or club. During these activities children can explore their own interests and make other friends beyond the school community.
  • Take care of yourself. Prioritize self-care activities such as exercise, hobbies, and spending time with loved ones to help you manage any stress or challenges that may arise.
  • If you are concerned about how your child is settling to the new school year, please speak to their class teacher, or email me to discuss what is happening and support ideas.

Have a good week,

First issue for this year was sent out yesterday, so hopefully your child/children brought it home.

For our existing families, you will notice a new format, newspaper style, in the brochures. Please note that if you are sending in

An order to the Library, please only include the final order page.

For new parents, we order via a LOOP system (all details are on the back page of the brochure) to do online orders.

If you are unsure what to do, please send me an email or Dojo message.

ALL orders need to be finalised by Wednesday March 15th. Books will return approximately 10-14 days later, and will be delivered to your classroom.

Jann Connor

Starting from Wednesday, 1st March an AST committee member will be meeting up with families to walk with them from the Kenneth Drive cul de sac (Park and Stride location at the far end of the park, opposite the school). This will continue each Wednesday for the term. The teacher will be walking with the families and not in place of parents or caregivers. If this becomes a worthwhile endeavour, we may include our other Park and Stride location in future terms.

We look forward to seeing you next Wednesday and enjoying another Worongary State School community activity.
