Colour Run

We could not have been more lucky - the day was sunny, warm and not a cloud in the sky… and over $21,000 raised!! WOW! We truly thought $10,000 would be a challenge and as a school community YOU doubled it! Thank you.

The laughter, the giggles and joy on the students faces, and staff, as they were coloured was something special. Thank you to our P&C who put this event together with the support of Mrs deWattville, Miss Melrose and the office staff. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped set up, pack up and participate in the day.

If you are unwell?

We kindly request that you keep your children at home if they are feeling unwell, even if it is just mild symptoms. This measure is crucial in order to prevent the spread of illnesses within our school environment. By doing so, we can create a healthier and safer environment for all students and staff.

If your child is unable to attend school due to illness, we kindly ask that you contact our school absence line at 55024444. Please provide us with the necessary details, such as your child's name, grade, and the reason for their absence. This information helps us to maintain accurate attendance records and ensure that appropriate support is provided when needed.

We understand that missing school due to illness can be inconvenient, but it is essential to prioritize the health and well-being of our entire school community. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in this matter.

Regards,
Adam

FROM THE SENIOR DEPUTY PRINCIPAL

Warm Welcome

I would like to take a moment to express my heartfelt gratitude to the entire Worongary School Community for the warm welcome I have received in my first week. I am excited to join such a fabulous team and have the opportunity to work alongside each and every one of you, ensuring that our wonderful students experience success in all aspects of their education.

During the week, I had the pleasure of immersing myself in the vibrant classrooms and participating in the various extra-curricular events offered at our school. One standout event was the colour run, where I had the privilege of meeting many of our enthusiastic parents. It was lovely to have the support of our families and share the fun.

While I have been getting to know my new role, our dedicated and hardworking teachers have been diligently engaged in teaching, assessing, and planning for the upcoming learning activities in Term 3. They have also been coordinating excursions and camps to enhance our students' educational experiences. I must say, I have been overwhelmingly impressed by the unwavering commitment our staff displays in ensuring the best for our students. Having worked in a vast range of schools over a span of 27 years, both in High School and Primary School settings, I can confidently say that Worongary State School is truly exceptional.

As we move forward together, I am eagerly looking forward to connecting with more of our families. Your involvement and support play a vital role in the success of our students and the school as a whole. Whether you have questions, ideas, or simply wish to share your thoughts, please don't hesitate to reach out.

Regards
Kristy

Book Fair

Thank you to everyone for the fantastic support at our recent Book Fair. Thanks to your generosity we sold almost $5000 worth of books, and received $1700 of free books in commission! That's a great boost to our Library resources.

For those children who are waiting on an order, I was notified this morning that they have been dispatched this morning.

Fingers crossed that they get here by Friday. Thank you for your patience. I will deliver them to your child's class upon arrival.

GUIDANCE OFFICER

ARE YOU WALKING OR WHEELING EACH WEDNESDAY? - JOIN THE AST GROUP, WE'D LOVE TO SEE YOU!

An AST committee member will be meeting up with families to walk with them from the Kenneth Drive cul de sac (Park and Stride location at the far end of the park, opposite the school). This will continue each Wednesday until the end of the term. The teacher will be walking with the families and not in place of parents or caregivers. If this becomes a worthwhile endeavour, we may include our other Park and Stride location in future terms.

We look forward to seeing you every Wednesday and enjoying another Worongary State School community activity.

See you there.

Fundraising

Well, we did it WSS community! We held our very OWN ColOUR Foamraiser FunRun Fundraiser! And what a success it was. We thank you for your support with these fundraising events. The children who were able to participate, absolutely LOVED it. It was a very colourful, foamy, slimy day and the weather was just amazing! Our school Community raised $21,219 through our fundraising hub. We have cash deposit waiting to clear and also have yet to subtract the cost of the vent from the total, however at a guess we will have approximately $16k towards our fundraising initiative- upgrading our play grounds. Well, Done Team WorongarySS!

Containers For Change- Battle of the schools

We are still doing our Containers for change collections every 2 weeks at the school. Next Collection is 16th June 2023. We have the opportunity to win an extra $500 towards our school just by recycling! Please, if you can donate to our recycling fundraising initiative, even if it is cleaning out your car from eligible containers floating in the footwell every fortnight- we want it! Please drop your containers into the school’s Containers for change wheelie bins (located in the courtyard area of the admin building). You can support by donating containers to the school or bringing them into an Express Recycling depot. They can process your donation under the school’s Scheme ID account-our school scheme ID C10179198.

We are a quarter of the way through the collection dates for battle of the schools and we are currently running third on the list. Let’s Get Recycling!

TRIVIA

Unfortunately, this event has had to be cancelled for 2023. However, we are looking at holding it early in 2024! Stay Tuned.

HELPING HANDS- Nerang RSL

Did you know, if you attend Nerang RSL on a Monday night for a meal (over $15.50) and you mention at the register that you would like to support Worongary SS in the Helping Hands Initiative, they will donate $5.00 to our school P&C Initiatives! How awesome is that!

The WSS P&C Executives support this too, as when we catch up with each other to talk about P&C things, we meet here and utilise this great initiative to support our school!
